Veikkaus to Further Support Domestic Football via New Deals

The Finnish state-owned gaming operator, Veikkaus, announced Tuesday that it inked two cooperation agreements that will increase the financing for football clubs.

Finnish Gaming Monopoly Inks Two Strategic Football Deals

The Finnish gaming monopoly revealed that it joined forces with the Finnish Football Association as well as the Veikkausliiga. As a result, each of the cooperation agreements has a 3-year duration and will seek to increase the support for football in the country.

The terms of the new deals cover the National League, Men’s Kakkonen and Men’s Ykkönen clubs that operate under the Finnish Football Association. The men’s and women’s Futsal league clubs and the Finnish Cup competitions are also covered by the new cooperation agreements. Veikkaus said that the new deals will help significantly increase the financial compensations paid to the clubs.

Ari Lahti, the president of the Football Association, deemed Veikkaus a long-term partner for the sport in the country. He added that joining forces with Veikkaus resulted in greater financial benefits for the clubs in Finland.

Veikkausliiga’s chairman, Kaarlo Kankkunen, acknowledged that the new collaboration with Veikkaus helps develop responsibility. Moreover, he added that the collaboration will help all of the clubs involved to receive direct support.

The Company Continues and Expands Its Collaboration with Football

Mariet Louhento, the president of the National League, added that the “long-term partnership sends an important signal to clubs that they want to support their professional growth in the longer term.” Additionally, she acknowledged that the collaboration helps the League’s go 7BALL al by raising awareness.
